Division of Music

Welcome to the Trevecca Nazarene University Division of Music homepage.The music division offers four programs of study in music which include music business, church music, music education, and music (liberal arts).


Located in Music City, USA, Trevecca students majoring in music have opportunities to explore the music world in numerous ways.


Graduates of the division have gone on to have careers in music performance, worship leadership, public and private school education, private studio instruction, and various areas of the music industry.

As you explore the music area, please feel free to contact division faculty with specific questions. It is our desire that your transition to college is smooth, and it is our hope that Trevecca Nazarene University will be your institution of choice.

Division Regulations

Students choosing to major in music should be prepared to sing or play representative works from their repertoire for placement into class or private instruction. Additional placement procedures include proficiency examinations in music theory (written and aural) and functional keyboard skills.

Incoming students desiring to major in music education, church music, or music (liberal arts) will be required to take a piano placement test. The student will be placed in the appropriate Class Piano course. Based on the placement, the class piano courses not required will be waived.

Students may also submit an application for music scholarship, and to learn more about the application process, please visit the Scholarship Information Page. Students pursuing the music education major must make formal application to the Teacher Education Program as is outlined in the School of Education teacher education guidelines.
